Super Sentai Strongest Battle 2019 - Episode 1 Photo Review

Super Sentai series is doing a mini series called "Super Sentai Strongest Battle" Super Sentai Saikyou Battle (スーパー戦隊最強バトル) starting February 17th 2019, up to four episodes. This is to ushered the upcoming 2019 Super Sentai series Ryusoulger.

As with many VS theme movie, Super Sentai Strongest Battle simply put together all 49 super sentai team into one movie once more. To make thing fast forwards, there will be 32 team consist of five member, fighting each other in knock out bracket.

This series introduce villain called : Gaisorg, who somehow showed that he learn an attacking move from Luca (Gokai Yellow). This four episodes mini series is the first mini movie to be insert in super sentai  time slot. Is this mean the 2019 Ryusoulger will be four episodes less? 

2018 Lupinranger vs Patranger Premiere Episode Photo Review

The super sentai for 2018 is titled as Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger. It is indeed a double team super sentai concept. Lupinranger is set as a thief-theme super sentai and Patranger are police theme sentai, specifically a tactical unit squad.

The first episode premiere yesterday on 11th February 2018. Guys, I think we gonna have a great super sentai year again as I just finish the premiere with high feeling. The premiere episode play in fast pace and indeed show how promising this double concept can be present. The first scenes are the Lupinranger in action, taken their act in a casino, that turn out to be operated by the villain, a Gangler.

The Patranger however, concepted as the good boys but will somehow too late in action to stop Lupinranger. The act played in very gangstar feel with thick jazzy background music.

Lupinranger entrance - such a classy act to start 2018 super sentai year

our lovely Lupin Yellow is Hayami Umika - a dilligent and fast hand girl , works in restaurant, together with the other Lupinranger member. Umika Hayami is portrayed by Haruka Kudo (工藤 遥 Kudō Haruka)

Lupinranger leader - Yoimachi Touma. Is the chief of the restaurant. Umika describe him as a jerk however..... Toma Yoimachi is portrayed by Shogo Hama (濱 正悟 Hama Shōgo).

He should be the bad boy from Lupinranger. Act as messenger for the team. Yano Kairi, is Blue Lupinranger . Kairi Yano is portrayed by Asahi Itou (伊藤 あさひ Itō Asahi).

Space Squad Gavan vs Dekaranger (2017) Photo Review

If you are fans of the '80s Space Sheriff or Metal Heroes series (Gavan, Sharivan, Shaider etc), here comes a very great news. TOEI Company is doing a huge remake on their metal heroes franchise and that culminated in Space Squad movie.  Gavan had making appearances since 2011 with Gokaiger as their super sentai comrades. The trio space sheriff, Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider then got their respective movie for each. Gavan had also scripted in Kyuuranger series, as Kyuuranger is a Space theme super sentai.

However, the biggest surprise comes to this movie, Space Squad : Gavan vs Dekaranger. This crossover finally confirmed that, after all, the two big universe of super sentai and space sheriff are connected. Dekaranger is a space police and Gavan too. Logically, when a mega villains arise, the two world will need to works together.

Space Squad Gavan vs Dekaranger put together the new , Gavan Type G, to fight along Dekaranger and team to stop a new Genmako Space Criminal Organization. The movie went quite well. This crossover successfully integrated the two team with all their trademark to give super sentai and metal heroes fans a big joy to watch. Here my photo review to the movie :

Zyuohger vs. Ninninger - Photos and Review

This is the crossover movie between Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (2016) and Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (2015). Both Zyuohger and Ninninger received a slightly negative reception among super sentai fans because their show had been inferior compared to their predecessor. With this in mind, how the two series achieved in this versus movie?

Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger: Message from the Future from Super Sentai is the translation for their official title : 劇場版 動物戦隊ジュウオウジャーVSニンニンジャー未来からのメッセージfromスーパー戦隊 (Gekijō-ban Dōbutsu Sentai Jūōjā tai Ninninjā Mirai kara no messēji from sūpā sentai). Unusual to the other crossover movie, in Zyuohger vs Ninninger, the storyline is rather different, quite interesting actually. The premise is something like this: A boy from the future time travelled to the current Zyuohger world. Just like John Connor in Terminator world. The boy, who happened to be Takaharu Igasaki (Ninnin-Red) son, come from distance future to warn the potential conflict between Zyuohger and Ninninger. As expected, the two sentai team had been fall into villain's plot to get them fighting each other. In the end, the movie resolved the truth and the two team do a great action together. As in tradition lately, the 2017 super sentai, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger made appearance with the complete nine rangers.

Kyuranger Premiere Episode One Review

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger finally premiere on Sunday February 12, 2017. The 41st Super Sentai series will succeeded Zyuohger, which is the 40th Super Sentai. As we all experienced, the general consensus for the last three super sentais, from Kyoryuger, are mostly below expectation. The ToQger in 2014, Ninninger in 2015, and Jyuohger in 2016, all left super sentai fans a mixed feelings. Thus, quite a big expectation fell upon Kyuranger.

Especially, as per known design, Kyuranger is getting extra ordinary design. This is the first super sentai team to have nine ranger, announced right from the start. The fresh theme and motive is space and planetary, and also star sign. Making Kyuranger already having a nice start build up.

The first episodes actually written very well. Story are fast pace but yet have enough room for building up the story. Let's see some of my screenshots below:

The first scene shown alien invasion. The villains is translated as Space Shogunate by Powerranger Wikia. The foot soldier design looks close to Gokaiger and Go-Busters.

Opening theme is ":Lucky Star" by Project R , sing by Tomohiro Hatano.

With nine rangers, the opening clip is dense with actions.

Kyuranger is one of the rare sentai series to open with line up of Yellow, Green and Black ranger.

The new super sentai, Kyuranger is about to launch in couple of weeks, so let's refresh our memories with my list of favorite super sentai opening songs and themes. I only listed the opening songs, there are zillions of end songs, in between songs and others that enriched the world of super sentai.


10. Susume Goranger - Go Ranger 1975
This is where it's all begin. The opening song of Go Ranger 1972 is true classic. It's so '70s Japan with toku style brass, funky guitar. Sings by Isao Sasaki who get very tenor voice and Mitsuko Horie as the female counter part.

09. Dai Sentai Goggle V - Goggle V 1982
Lyric : Koike Kazuo Composer / Arranger : Watanabe Michiaki Singer : MoJo, Koorogi '73, Goggle V is the first recognized sentai in Indonesia and South East Asia. The song is also memorable with still lots of brass and pumping bass line.

08. Choudenshi Bioman - Bioman 1984
Choudenshi Bioman (超電子バイオマン) is also most popular sentai in the '80, worldwide! This opening song sing by Takayuki Miyauchi. The chorus is epic and required strong spirit to shout it out.

07. Choujin Sentai Jetman - Jetman 1991
Performed by Hironobu Kageyama, the Jetman opening song is rather the turn point to classic '80 sound. Jetman's opening song is modern by the time performed by singer that having more pop voices and less brass. It's has heavy metal with shredding electric guitar solos.

06. Secret Kakuranger - Kakuranger 1994
Performed by Tu Chee Chen. And we arrived in Kakuranger opening theme. As the revolution in Tokusatsu soundtrack song begin, the music for Kakuranger is extremely different that its past. Secret Kakuranger has thick Japanese music elements. Fit with Kakuranger ninja theme. It's also sing by singer with J-Pop voice rather than the tenor singer in the '80s.

05. Mirai Sentai Timeranger - Timeranger 2000
Performed by JIKU. Talking about revolution in super sentai opening song, Timeranger wins big time. This opening song is so extremely future feel. The singer is fully taken by female voices. The music is combination of crazy jazz feel and rock. The chromatic down notes in the chorus is strange to be in super sentai song. See this one live and you can feel how powerful this song is.

04. Mahou Sentai Magiranger - Magiranger 2005
Performed by Takafumi Iwasaki. The song is composed with thick orchestra to echo the soundtrack of magical world. It's influenced by Harry Potter world, Magiranger opening song successly brings us to the magical world.

03. Go Go Sentai Boukenger - Boukenger 20006
Performed by  NoB (Yamada Nobuo). By now, the opening song of super sentai is already quite standarized. Still Boukenger opening song is pretty neat and spiritful. The style is heavy metal with full power chord guitar. Chorus are memorable.

02. Hurricaneger Calling - Hurricaneger 2002
Performed by Hideaki Takatori. Hurricaneger incorportaed Japanese elements to their opening song. You can feel the Japanese scale in the song and it's epic. The song is greatly videographed in the clip with Hurricaneger using the umbrellas.

01. Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger - Dekaranger 2004
Performed by Psychic Lover. Yes, Dekaranger opening song with it's epic opening guitar riff is the no.1 super sentai song. This is the household song for super sentai, this is how super sentai show should be started. The style is full metal band setting, Psychic Lover got it super right.

Juken Sentai Gekiranger 2007 
Performed by Takayoshi Tanimoto, this song fall in between Dekaranger and Hurricaneger. It's still following Dekaranger and Boukenger style which is metal with big power chord but now with exotic scale to reflected Gekiranger kungfu style. Very nice one indeed.

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger 2017 Actors and Actress Line Up

The mystery behind intrique 2017 Uchu Sentai Kyuranger have finally almost all revealed. The first impressions about their what-about already posted before. As we all know, this going to be a strong season with nine rangers immediately announced and most probably will directly put it the show. Making Kyuranger, the 41st Super Sentai, the first of its kind to have more than five rangers started in the beginning.

Alas, when the Kyuranger actors and actress finally revealed, we got only positive five cast that have human form. This mean the other four rangers will be played with mask, as they are not human form. To make it clear, here the details story line for Kyuranger as posted in official TV-ASAHI website:

The stage of the story is the far space of the future far away. It is the world where hope was lost under the rule of evil organization Jack Matter. However, nine warriors appeared mysteriously, summoned by Keizama/Kyutama that possessed the power of the constellation. They are legend that saves the universe. The nine 's  is precisely called as  Kyuranger.They are chosen human being and they are alien from different constellation systems. The five human types are : Shishi Red, Scorpion Orange, Kajiki Yellow, Hebitsukai Silver, and Chameleon Green.

Sembilan Ranger Hadir di Kyuranger 2017

Setiap tahun, stasiun televisi Jepang mendesain seri Super Sentai dengan desain baru dan unik. Complete 2017 Uchu Sentai Kyuranger Designs Explained

It's December and the rumors about 2017 Super Sentai, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, has finally revealed. As the week rolls in, the image of Kyuranger has now presented to us in higher resolution. The first images of Kyuranger is circulated in this IMAGE. Which is enough to give a shock in Sentai world. We are now in the track to having the first sentai series where the initial rangers is NINE units!

A week after, the full image of our nine Kyuranger are finally appeared. They are in toy catalog and here are some of edited images. You can find all complete toy catalog with simple google search for "Kyuranger" :

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger (宇宙戦隊キュウレンジャー Uchu Sentai Kyuranger) or Space Squadron Kyuranger will be a Space, Planetaries, Constellation and even Animal theme for super sentai. They are the first one for this detailed theme. Some of past super sentai that share this theme are :
- Most of the '80s sentai : Sun Vulcan, Changeman, Flashman that have outer space theme
- Most of animal sentai : Gaoranger, Gekiranger to Zyuohger
- Dekaranger for its space police theme

Unique for Kyuranger will be a lot :
- One of the very first green female ranger in super sentai world
- Obviously the first to have all nine rangers appeared in initial line up, at least in promotion
- The black bull is a bulky guy, similar to Bull Black in Gingaman

- As we know, this will be the 41st Super Sentai. A very strong reboot in the series with all nine rangers formation. Love it.

In year of 2016 we celebrated the 40th anniversary of super sentai series. I will bring together trivial fun fact about super sentai in "Top 10 Super Sentai..... " posting. Our first Top Ten is the design of headquarter of the series. The headquarter play important part on the series. They are designed following the main theme of the series. The most common headquarter theme, and the most being used in the first decades of super sentai is the Laboratory style. The super sentai will reside in very advance technology laboratory, usually with military backup. Here are the top ten to remember :

From the first super sentai series (Goranger), the futuristic style headquarter is used by each team. Google V's Future Science Laboratory is the most memorable milestone. It got very hi-tech design, fully operated by Computer Boys and Girls, and head by Dr. Hideki Hongo. The Google V team brainstormed and analysis strategy in this headquarter

9. Bioman - Biobase

It is a very hi tech headquarter located near Mt Fuji. The laboratory is also the launchpad for BioDragon and BioRobo. It is hidden in the cave complex.

Power Rangers Dash - Rangers Game Statistic & Guide Walkthrough

Power Rangers Dash is new mobile-based games (Android and iPhone) with Power Ranger theme. It is a side running game and a fun one. There are groups of Power Rangers team ranging from Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin), Wild Force to the latest Dino Charge. You played with three rangers as your team to side running the whole game. You can buy a ranger (and sell), level up, give him more attribute and so on. Here are the screen shot of each rangers and its initial statistic :

Gokaiger vs Zyuohger - Super Sentai 2000 Episodes Anniversary

With the 40th Super Sentai series running this year, the show reach their #2000 episodes somewhere in episode #29 of Zyuohger. Zyuohger is the running 2016 super sentai series. It is also the 40th super sentai series in the franchise. Although the series did not do anything special about their 40th status (unlike Gokaiger in their 35th anniversary) the show do the 2000th episode anniversary with double episode which bring back Gokaiger in the show. The whole Gokaiger cast appeared and do a mini Gokaiger vs Zyuohger as double episodes, those are episodes #28 and #29. The story that Captain Marvelaous back to Earth to continue their journey to find the most precious treasure got conflict with the current Earth's defender, that is Zyuohger. The story went quite well actually.

Boukenger 10 Years After - Will It Be Possible?

The first "10 Years After" V-Cinema for Super Sentai was done by Hurricanger team, back in 2013. The movie was made for a ten years commemorate of the series, in which Hurricanger was running in 2002. The whole idea was coming from Nao Nagasawa who later work hard to re-assemble the team and put the proposal to TOEI who approved it.

Later on, in 2015, "Dekaranger 10 Years After" was also taking place where the whole cast of Dekaranger taking part of it. Super Sentai fans are aware that Abaranger 10 Years After was not possible because some of the actors were not available. The reasons being the actor is retired, not interested, or due to agency being not agreeable with the contract.

As per September 2016, the mark of 10 Years After movie have reaching its deadline and we got less information about it. Supposedly, the year 2016 should be on Magiranger, but there already enough evident that Magiranger 10 Years After will not likely take place due to their actors being unavailable.

Now, with still many months to go, the 10 Years after movie is reaching the Boukenger timeline. Will it be possible to have Boukenger 10 Years After? With quick internet research, here the facts for each actor/actress in the most current situation as per this writing:

Actor Mitsuomi Takahashi (高橋 光臣 ) = Satoru Akashi / Bouken-Red
He was quite active in later Super Sentai series. He appeared in Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle, of course as Satoru Akashi. He also take part in Gokaiger Episode 21 for Boukenger tribute. His major role in acting was as Umechan Sensei (NHK, 2012) as Toshio Matsuoka.  As per his blog, he is still active in entertainment business, so his status for Boukenger 10 Years After should be AVAILABLE

Actor Yasuka Saitō (齋藤 ヤスカ) = Masumi Inoe  / Bouken-Black
His last major role listed in Wikipedia is Cinema "Love Place" as gay couple with Yusuke Arai (2013). One of his last drama is  Specter woman Gakuen (2014, Chiba TV). He also noted as being worked as photographer in agency. His status should also be AVAILABLE.

Actor Masashi Mikami (三上 真史) = Souta Mogami / Bouken-Blue
He appeared in numbers of Kamen Rider Drive 2015 episodes. In 2010 played in Hoshisuna no Shima no Chiisana Tenshi ~Mermaid Smile~. He has currently in D-Boys acting group. His status should also be AVAILABLE.

Actress  Chise Nakamura (中村 知世) = Natsuki Mamiya / BoukenYellow
Chise is popular gravure model as in her time in Boukenger actually. Eversince then, her latest works listed in Japanese wikipedia was in 2014, a videowork released by E-net Frontier. As per her blog, she still quite active, so, it will also not big trouble to get her back into Boukenger 10 Years After. We can call her status as AVAILABLE.

Actress  Haruka Suenaga (末永 遥) =  Sakura Nishihori / Bouken Pink
Haruka reportedly married to Judo athlete who is a gold medalist in Athens Olympic. She also reported to appeared in 2016 July TV Asahi "Living from scratch - Dear, - was moved" TV show. Her cinema appearances looks a bit less. Can she takes part in Boukenger reunion movie? Should not much problem as she is still do entertainment business. She should also be AVAILABLE.

Actor Masayuki Deai (出合 正幸) = Eiji Takaoka / Bouken Silver
He is Bouken Silver and important part of the team for reunion.  He returned in 2010, appearing as the Trigger Dopant in Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate. More importantly he was Tessai/Kyoryu Grey in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger! This made him the closer to Super Sentai world among the Boukenger team. His new drama role is in Monday Masterpiece Theater "Season 2 of the Shadow" (2016) as Totsuka Koichiro. He should be AVAILABLE for the decade movie with Boukenger.

Actress  Mami Yamasaki (山崎 真実) = Shizuka of the Wind
She was more active as gravure idols and model. She is one last important cast for Boukenger reunion movie. Ohranger To Be Released by Shout Factory November 2016

As predicted before, Shout Factory continued their Super Sentai series released with Ohranger, scheduled at November 2016.

The move confirmed that Shout Factory may be the one who going to conquered Super Sentai released in North America, and other parts of the world that can enjoyed their released. Suddenly, all the super sentai fans in other areas which unable to get the DVD, will be abandoned by fansubs. This is because each Super Sentai released will come together with action by fansub to remove their fansub from internet.

So far we already get Zyuranger, Dairanger, then Kakuranger earlier this year. As for now, quick grab the available Ohranger fansub online, archived it will all your dignity because that's going to be a rare collection in the future. Millionfold Curiosity group have completely fansubbing the series, google it.

the classic super sentai series as in Ohranger and the beauty of Tamao Sato, will soon unable to be enjoyed by fans who's only relied on online fansubs released.

2016 Sentai Zyuohger Episode One Review

The first episode of 2016 Super Sentai, Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (some other spell as Jyuohger) is broadcasted last Valentine Sunday February 14th 2016. The first English fansub also uploaded days after, enable me to quick review on this new series.
SPOILER ALERTS

The episode title is "Dokidoki Dōbutsu Rando" (どきどき動物ランド) with Wikipedia translated as "The Bustling Animal Land". The writer is Junko Komura, he write two episodes for Goseiger and one for Go-onger. His main works were in Gokaiger, which is a good series we all know. With this info, we expected high for the story writing part.

The opening song is simply titles as Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger by Hideaki Takatori. The music incoporated a lot on "jungle" choruses, added more uniqueness to the show. The style is J-Rock as usual very much Super Sentai feel.

Right after the opening song, we got to introduce with Yamato Kazakiri (風切 大和 ) actor by Masaki Nakao (中尾 暢樹 ). He is our red ranger and profession as Zoologist, also a Zoo tour guide. The main story revolved about his mysterious cube. The back story flash about his encounter with mysterious character who given his this cube, a potential backward story we going to see in Zyuohger.
