Super Sentai Strongest Battle 2019 - Episode 1 Photo Review

Super Sentai series is doing a mini series called "Super Sentai Strongest Battle" Super Sentai Saikyou Battle (スーパー戦隊最強バトル) starting February 17th 2019, up to four episodes. This is to ushered the upcoming 2019 Super Sentai series Ryusoulger.

As with many VS theme movie, Super Sentai Strongest Battle simply put together all 49 super sentai team into one movie once more. To make thing fast forwards, there will be 32 team consist of five member, fighting each other in knock out bracket.

Episode 1 of Super Sentai Strongest Battle (Who is the Strongest of All Time!?
史上最強は誰だ!?) follow the story of the first team, the Odd Team consist of :

This series introduce villain called : Gaisorg, who somehow showed that he learn an attacking move from Luca (Gokai Yellow). This four episodes mini series is the first mini movie to be insert in super sentai  time slot. Is this mean the 2019 Ryusoulger will be four episodes less? 

Zyuohger vs. Ninninger - Photos and Review

This is the crossover movie between Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (2016) and Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (2015). Both Zyuohger and Ninninger received a slightly negative reception among super sentai fans because their show had been inferior compared to their predecessor. With this in mind, how the two series achieved in this versus movie?

Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger: Message from the Future from Super Sentai is the translation for their official title : 劇場版 動物戦隊ジュウオウジャーVSニンニンジャー未来からのメッセージfromスーパー戦隊 (Gekijō-ban Dōbutsu Sentai Jūōjā tai Ninninjā Mirai kara no messēji from sūpā sentai). Unusual to the other crossover movie, in Zyuohger vs Ninninger, the storyline is rather different, quite interesting actually. The premise is something like this: A boy from the future time travelled to the current Zyuohger world. Just like John Connor in Terminator world. The boy, who happened to be Takaharu Igasaki (Ninnin-Red) son, come from distance future to warn the potential conflict between Zyuohger and Ninninger. As expected, the two sentai team had been fall into villain's plot to get them fighting each other. In the end, the movie resolved the truth and the two team do a great action together. As in tradition lately, the 2017 super sentai, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger made appearance with the complete nine rangers.

Gokaiger vs Zyuohger - Super Sentai 2000 Episodes Anniversary

With the 40th Super Sentai series running this year, the show reach their #2000 episodes somewhere in episode #29 of Zyuohger. Zyuohger is the running 2016 super sentai series. It is also the 40th super sentai series in the franchise. Although the series did not do anything special about their 40th status (unlike Gokaiger in their 35th anniversary) the show do the 2000th episode anniversary with double episode which bring back Gokaiger in the show. The whole Gokaiger cast appeared and do a mini Gokaiger vs Zyuohger as double episodes, those are episodes #28 and #29. The story that Captain Marvelaous back to Earth to continue their journey to find the most precious treasure got conflict with the current Earth's defender, that is Zyuohger. The story went quite well actually.

2016 Sentai Zyuohger Episode One Review

The first episode of 2016 Super Sentai, Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (some other spell as Jyuohger) is broadcasted last Valentine Sunday February 14th 2016. The first English fansub also uploaded days after, enable me to quick review on this new series.
SPOILER ALERTS

The episode title is "Dokidoki Dōbutsu Rando" (どきどき動物ランド) with Wikipedia translated as "The Bustling Animal Land". The writer is Junko Komura, he write two episodes for Goseiger and one for Go-onger. His main works were in Gokaiger, which is a good series we all know. With this info, we expected high for the story writing part.

The opening song is simply titles as Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger by Hideaki Takatori. The music incoporated a lot on "jungle" choruses, added more uniqueness to the show. The style is J-Rock as usual very much Super Sentai feel.

Right after the opening song, we got to introduce with Yamato Kazakiri (風切 大和 ) actor by Masaki Nakao (中尾 暢樹 ). He is our red ranger and profession as Zoologist, also a Zoo tour guide. The main story revolved about his mysterious cube. The back story flash about his encounter with mysterious character who given his this cube, a potential backward story we going to see in Zyuohger.

Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger - Official Actors Actresses

By the time we passed 2015 Christmas, the official cast for Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger has finally revealed:

Zyuoh Eagle = Masaki Nakao 中尾 正樹
Zyuoh Lion = Shohei Nanba 南羽翔平
Zyuoh Shark = Miki Yanagi 柳美樹
Zyuoh Elephant = Tsurugi Watanabe 渡邉剣
Zyuoh Tiger = Haruka Tateishi 立石晴香 (たていし はるか)

A quick internet search did not come with many results, indicated that they were quite new talent. Tateishi Haruka is in TV series "Hammer Sesion", check Wiki Addicts

Gun to follow play a Tiger / Amu, was awarded to the 2007 Grand Prix Nicola model audition, it was shining in God quasi Grand Prix result, in the model audition 2010 Tateishi Haruka. Model since graduation in 2013, it appeared in this work as the first job!

We also looks like getting official spelling as "Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger" . Something close to Zyuranger.

The show will be premiered at February 14th, 2016. The translation for Zyuman can also be "Juman". The first episode guide is up to in official Toei page here. The premise in Japanese :

Zyuohger premise is something like this:

Zyuland, a parallel universe where the Zyumans live, is facing aliens invasion. Four "Zyumans" named Sera, Amu, Tusk and Leo flee to our world and recruit human named Yamato. Together they disguised in human form, the Zyumans and Yamato teamed up to be become Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger!

2016 Doubutsu Sentai Jyuuouger First Looks

Today we got the first looks from 2016 Super Sentai, Doubutsu Sentai Jyuuouger   動物戦隊ジュウオウジャ = Animal Task Force Beast King Ranger. The 2016 theme is back to animal power, the color combination are RED, YELLOW, GREEN, and females are BLUE and WHITE. This is first combination of such color and gender.  The animal power visually can be seen on the front outfit : Falcon, Lion, Shark, Elephant and white can be cheetah or panther.

The outfit itself is bit too simple with only animal motif. The helmet are ok, but White's helmet resembling Gekiranger, while the Blue's looks alike Liveman. Overall not the best original design for this year, and it is not as impressive as Ninninger first appearance last year.

The mecha is shaped as a CUBE. There will be  Jyuuou Eagle, Jyuuou Shark and Jyuuou Lion. There is also Giraffe (orange) and Gorilla (white) as addition.

Notable previous sentai with animal theme:

- 1981 Sun Vulcan - Eagle, Shark, Panther
- 1985 Change man - legendary creatures (dragon, griffon, pegasus, mermaid, phoenix)
- 1992 Jetman - wing animals -  Hawk, Swan, Owl, Swallow, Condor
- 1988 Liveman - Falcon, Lion, Dolphin, Bison, Sai
- 2001 Gaoranger  - Lion, Eagle, Shark, Bison, Tiger, Wolf
- 2006 Gekiranger - Martial Arts with Animal based theme - Tiger, Cheetah, Jaguar, Wolf, Cooper

The most close resembling should be on Gaoranger and Liveman.

The next big thing to watch is the revelation of Jyuuouger actor and actresses. Let's wait a few weeks more!
