Super Sentai Strongest Battle 2019 - Episode 1 Photo Review

Super Sentai series is doing a mini series called "Super Sentai Strongest Battle" Super Sentai Saikyou Battle (スーパー戦隊最強バトル) starting February 17th 2019, up to four episodes. This is to ushered the upcoming 2019 Super Sentai series Ryusoulger.

As with many VS theme movie, Super Sentai Strongest Battle simply put together all 49 super sentai team into one movie once more. To make thing fast forwards, there will be 32 team consist of five member, fighting each other in knock out bracket.

Episode 1 of Super Sentai Strongest Battle (Who is the Strongest of All Time!?
史上最強は誰だ!?) follow the story of the first team, the Odd Team consist of :

This series introduce villain called : Gaisorg, who somehow showed that he learn an attacking move from Luca (Gokai Yellow). This four episodes mini series is the first mini movie to be insert in super sentai  time slot. Is this mean the 2019 Ryusoulger will be four episodes less? 

Power Rangers Dash - Rangers Game Statistic & Guide Walkthrough

Power Rangers Dash is new mobile-based games (Android and iPhone) with Power Ranger theme. It is a side running game and a fun one. There are groups of Power Rangers team ranging from Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin), Wild Force to the latest Dino Charge. You played with three rangers as your team to side running the whole game. You can buy a ranger (and sell), level up, give him more attribute and so on. Here are the screen shot of each rangers and its initial statistic :

Thanks to Super Sentai Dice O we got hundred of awesome super sentai card. This collectible card and arcade game published art work for all Super Sentai show from Gorenger to the current one, Kyoryugers. From the time Super Sentai Dice O released, all teams already released... except.. Google V, Turboranger and Fiveman. Oh, I can't believe two of my favorite sentai team, Google V and Fiveman are in the last line of queue. These three sentai show widely believe as the least popular teams. Nevermind, I manage to compiled all the team and put it into two wallpapers. For your enjoyment of course... HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 for all Super Sentai fans around the world.

Super Sentai Ranger Count Up to Kyoryuger

As Kyoryuger making up debut for Violet, Cyan, Navy, and Grey color sentai, it's a good time to update the super sentai rangers counting chart. In 2011, I had done a chart showing all known rangers, this chart was done before the knowledge of later 199 Hero movies. So, it was a bit of messy as we all not know the official counting yet. So, right now please see the newer version, 2013 Super Sentai Chart.

Maskman - XI Mask is green,fight on one episode only, not included in 199 War - so I also unlisted him.
Zyuranger - the sixth is green, the first additional member.
Kakuranger - Ninjaman is blue color, not included in 199 war, but counted as official 'Bangai' hero
Ohranger - Kingranger / Riki is black. Gunmajin was not included in 199 war but a Bangai hero.
Carranger - Signalman is blue, VRV is 'debatable' Bangai hero not taking part in 199 War but has enough air time in the show, hardly can ignore him.
Gogo V - Kyoko and Beast Demon Hunter are unofficial 'debatable' Bangai hero, so unlisted.
Timeranger -Timefire is red
Hurricaneger - the Goraijer are Navy Blue and Red
Abaranger - though Emiri once put in a "pink" costume, but it is a joke/fake one.
Dekaranger - The 'Earth Branch' are 5 Dekarangers plus Dekamaster and Dekabreak fighting regularly. Deka Swan is not much in play on the show, others are Dekabright and Dekagold, who appear on movie. Interestingly, in 199 War, Dekamaster and Dekaswan was included, together with Dekabreak.
Magiranger - Magishine is Gold-Navy color and is additional team, Wolzard and Magi Mother are extras.
Boukenger - Bouken Silver then Zuban is Bangai / Extra  hero.
Gekiranger - Gekichoper is White and Gekiviolet, Melee and Ryo was also officially 'good' guy by now.
Go-onger - Additional member is two ranger called 'Go-on Wing', are Silver and Gold
Shinkenger - Kaoru is the basically same as Shinken Red and counted as one (it's the same design afterall), bit of confusing here.
Goseiger - there existed Gosei Green, but will not included.
Gokaiger - pretty much all five + Gokai Silver
Gobusters - also fixed, 3 Gobusters plus Gold and Silver
Kyoryuger - Now my version is: 5 Kyoryugers, additional are Gold and Violet (both active). Extras are the spirits = Cyan and Grey,  then unknown 'category' are Silver and Deathryuger (Navy). Kyoryuger, as the time of writing will at least has 10 color rangers.

Of course the list also excluded our respectable UnOfficial Sentai - Akiba Red, Akiba Blue and Akiba Yellow, from Akiba ranger.

How Many Super Sentai

Comedy in Super Sentai

Suddenly most of Sentai blog posting about humour/parody/comedy/gimmick in Super Sentai. Well, I am going to highlight funny and entertaining Super Sentai series according to me.

Just a note, most of Sentai before 2000s tends to be serious, perhaps because the actor/team treat the Sentai show as something dramatic and play them in serious way. But, maybe after Carranger, Super Sentai begin to move in as parody and play more humour in it. I do like the humour, and I think that is the strong side of the show. Super Sentai, with coloured super hero, is actually a parody of the whole super hero genre. And as some smart guy say , it is much harder to made people laugh than to made people sad.

Some notable very funny show in Super Sentai:

Kakuranger, Zyuranger, Fiveman, Jetman
Started the show in very bizzare way, but the humour is on par level each other, with comedic episodes enough to make adult people raising eyebrow and laugh. Ninjaman in Kakuranger developed a weird comedy element.

Carranger
Most parodic series. Carranger legend said that the Super Sentai show almost cancelled after the poor performance of Ohranger. The team begin to survive the show in a very bizzare way, by doing a parodic super sentai series. The result is excellent, the audiences loves it. Some parodic elements in carranger :
- The Carranger team that too parodic and anti-hero performances
- Weird concept about the whole villain motives to destroy the Earth, because the Earth 'blocking' a way for the building of Galaxy's Highway
- The funny concept about the Bowzock, and Zonette crush on Red racer
- the sixth hero is replace by parodic Signal man

Hurricaneger
Long after Carranger, perhaps Hurricaneger is the only parodic sentai once again. Some of middle episodes are really eye raising, with the villain concept of Wendinu, Furabijo and Satorakura giving the most bizzare villain.

Dekaranger
Dekaranger have a mild parodic element, but mostly a more adult humour in dialog rather than doing bizzare thing. Deka Yellow, Jasmine is the most member that will pop up a smart-fun dialog. I like Dekaranger mainly because of the humour element in it

Boukenger
Similar to Dekaranger, Boukenger also decorated with more humours. Some of episodes idea are really parodic and fun to watch. The 'precious' seeking episode some come with bizzare idea, for example the "Cinderella" episodes, "Feng Shui" episodes etc.

Go-onger
Go onger is the intended parodic Sentai similar to Carranger. Most of storyline in Goonger episodes is intended to entertain young audiences. The actors casting also excellent in supporting the roles, some of my favorite moment of super sentai are in Go onger.

Shinkenger and Gokaiger
Both series have a good storyline written, and good story line involved lots of humour to make it watchable in long run by adult audiences. Shinkenger and Gokaiger is not intended parodic/humour Sentai series, but it have many passing humour that logic to the storyline. As usual the villain are doing more bizzare humour.

How many Super Sentai Members?

With Gokaiger and its resurrection of "previous Sentai power", the fans are calculating , exactly how many Super Sentai member that ever exist from the show.

I made this simple chart and here my version of counting. It is 201 if we counted all rangers that ever occured in the show. However, with so many confusing parts as shown below, this is just an alternative view on this matter. So, my version are :

Basic super sentai team = the core team that initially recruit to work from the beginning
total = 167 rangers + Aka Red

Extra team member = somehow, in crisis time, surprise member join in. This/these member then join in frequently to help core member, and some even stay as permanent member (Bouken silver, Gekiviolet etc.)
With this, total = 193 rangers
Other member = ranger that only occasionally help the basic + extra team, they are not part of them.
With this all total ranger characters = 201 rangers

The official 199 Hero did not included: Ninjaman, Gunmajin and XI Mask, but included in Gekiranger=Melee, Ryo and Zuuban.

UPDATED 2011 : Gokaiger now has Sixth ranger- Gokai Silver / Gai
And also in 199 Heroes movie, the addition are ; Zuuban (Boukenger) and Mele and Rio (Gekiranger)
that make the number from 201 to 204 now!

UPDATED 2013: well, with Go-busters and Kyoryuger added, the list will need to update! I'll wait until Kyoryuger settled its fascinated line up of rangers in the few next week! So far we got :
Go-busters: five more members
Kyoryuger: five + cyan + gold + grey ... and maybe more in the future, as the time of writing (June 2013)
